Terms & Conditions
1. About us
This website is owned and operated by Yorkshire Fenix Enterprises, the trading name of the business run by Keith Wood, author, who writes under the pen name The Yorkshire Fenix.

References to we, us and our mean Yorkshire Fenix Enterprises. References to you and your mean the person using this website or buying from us.
2. Using this website
By using this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
You agree to use the website only for lawful purposes, and not in any way that damages the site, disrupts its use by others, or breaches these terms. We may update, change or remove any part of the website at any time without notice.
3. Our products and services
We sell books directly through this website. We also offer illustrated talks and writing and research services. Any prices, descriptions and availability shown are subject to change, and we try to keep all information accurate and up to date.
Book cover images and descriptions are provided in good faith. Slight variations in colour or finish may occur.
4. Orders and payment
When you place an order you are offering to buy the product at the price shown. We will confirm your order by email. A contract between us is formed only when we send that confirmation.
Prices are shown in pounds sterling and, unless stated otherwise, exclude postage and packing, which is shown separately at checkout. We reserve the right to correct any pricing errors before your order is dispatched, and to decline or cancel an order in that event, refunding any payment already made.
Payment is taken through Wix Payments. We do not store your card details.
5. Delivery
We aim to dispatch orders within a reasonable time and will give an estimated delivery timescale where we can. Delivery times are estimates and not guaranteed. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery.
6. Returns & Refunds
We want you to be happy with every purchase. This policy sets out your options if something is not right, or if you change your mind.
Online orders
If you buy a paperback through this website, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of receiving it, and a further 14 days to return it. To receive a full refund, the book must be returned unread and in resaleable condition. Where a returned book shows signs of use or reading, we may reduce your refund to reflect the loss in value. Return postage is the responsibility of the buyer unless the book is faulty.
Event and in-person purchases
Books bought in person, including at talks and events, are non-returnable except where faulty. We are happy to exchange a damaged book bought this way as a goodwill gesture.
7. Talks and writing services
Bookings for talks and writing or research services are arranged individually. Specific terms, including fees, timings and what is included, will be agreed with you in writing before any work begins or any booking is confirmed. Any deposit, cancellation or rescheduling terms will be set out in that agreement.
8. Charitable donations
We are proud that profits from the sale of Yorkshire Fenix novels are donated to local charities. The choice of charity and the amount and timing of donations are decided by us. This commitment does not form part of any contract of sale, and buying a book does not create any legal entitlement in favour of any charity or third party.
9. Intellectual property
All content on this website, including text, book extracts, images, logos and the names The Yorkshire Fenix and Yorkshire Fenix Enterprises, is owned by or licensed to us and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights. You may not reproduce, copy, distribute or use any part of it without our written permission.
All Yorkshire Fenix publications are the copyright of Keith Wood. Permission must be obtained before reproducing any part of them.
10. Third party links
This website may link to other websites, such as Amazon, Substack, 7th Wave and our chosen charities. We are not responsible for the content, products or privacy practices of those websites. Links are provided for convenience only.
11. Our liability
We provide this website and our products with reasonable care and skill. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage that is not a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms. We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
12. Privacy
We handle your personal information in line with our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect and how we use it. Please read it alongside these terms.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the time you place an order is the version that applies to that order. Please check this page when you visit.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the courts of England and Wales.
